BCLC Working to Put Recovery at Heart of Disaster Response Process
"Change" is more than an election-year buzzword; it is what BCLC is working toward through its Disaster Assistance and Recovery program.
BCLC has been promoting change in the disaster response process for years. Our focus is on speeding long-term recovery and embedding business partnerships into disaster aid and community preparedness systems.
These changes are not easy, especially when years of the status quo have made the old way of doing things almost routine.
On January 14, 2009, in Boca Raton, Florida, BCLC will host an event, "Next Steps for Improving Local, State, and National Disaster Recovery Strategies." This forum will be a catalyst for creating needed change, which is why one of the panels is about disaster recommendations for the upcoming Administration.
The forum will showcase the best minds in the United States in the field of disaster recovery and will include presentations on regional competitiveness and sustainability in disaster-prone areas, as well as the top 10 policies that states need in order to recover.
One of the goals of this forum is to create a network of organizations that are committed to making community recovery an integral part of the disaster response process. If you are interested in being a part of this network, please join us in sunny Boca Raton to help plan the future of disaster recovery. More information is online.
