Who Qualifies for Internships?
College students currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at the junior or senior level, a graduate program, or a Washington, DC, Internship Program.  Qualifying students must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong computer research skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; be a self-starter; and have strong organizational and time management skills.
Who Qualifies for Fellowships?
College students currently enrolled in a graduate program. Qualifying students must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong computer research skills; a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; the ability to work independently; and strong project management, organizational, and time management skills.
Do I have to be a student to be accepted for the internship or fellowship programs?
You must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program to participate.
How long should my writing sample be?
Your writing sample should be 1 – 2 pages and preferably related to the department to which you are applying.
After I submit my internship or fellowship application, what happens?
Your application will be sent to the department to which you've expressed interest. If the department selects your resume, you will receive a phone call.
How will I know if I'm not selected?
You will receive a letter.
If I'm not a U.S. citizen, am I eligible to participate in the internship or fellowship program?
You are eligible, but you must have a student work visa.
Am I compensated for the internship or fellowship program?
Interns are not paid; however, they are eligible to receive credit for undergraduate or graduate work through their college or university.
